Pin-Type or Pin-less Moisture Meters?

• Wood samples must fill the pin-less sensor pad - these vary in size from 1.2 x 1.5 inches to 2.0 x 2.5 inches.
• Pin-less sensor pad must have good contact with the surface to be measured - rough sawn timber just acceptable.
• Pin-less moisture meters expect a wood thickness of one inch, some models allow electronic correction right down to 0.25 inches for thinner samples, or, you can stack samples to build a proper thickness.
• Remote monitoring of wood drying in a chamber is easy with pin-type meters - use nails as probes and connect these to the moisture meter pins with lengths of wire.
